The Everyday Mailbag- 10/12/11
The Lions and Bills are the talk of the league. Once again, the Lions and Bills are the talk of the league. And with the talk of the NFL and other things, there are always questions! Let’s see what the Sports World wants to know!
Q: How will Philly finish the season?
-Joey K., Los Angeles, CA
A: Philly will finish 9-7. I think that this is the lowest that they will sink and the revival will start this weekend with their game in Washington.
Q: Who’s the truly best team in the AFC after 5 weeks?
-Dallah S., Manhattan, NY
A: The most complete team currently is the Bills. I must say that I have been dead wrong on my thoughts on this team. I think they can be better than third in the division if the Jets don’t pick it up. They are playing the best in the AFC right now.
Q: After Sunday’s loss to Pittsburgh, do you see the Tennessee Titans as a playoff contender?
-Herman P., LaVergne, TN
A: I see the Titans still as a playoff contender. Its only one loss and the division is there for the taking for them. Its between them and the Texans.
Q: Will Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson be the greatest WR of all time?
-Cory C., Iowa
A: I don’t think he will be the greatest receiver of all time. That title goes to Jerry Rice. When Johnson plays 15 or so seasons at a pretty high rate for and has a 1,000 yard receiving year at age 40, then he can get put in that category. I’m not saying he isn’t good, but he isn’t in the realm of all-time just yet.
Q: Who will garner more attention in the off-season…Prince Albert of Prince Fielder?
-Pop Fly Boys, Whereabouts Unknown
A: I think Prince Albert will get more on the open market because he brings a Gold Glove defensively, instant leadership, winner’s mentality and, of course, offense. With Prince, he brings offense, but prevailing thoughts are that he will end up being a DH sooner rather than later.
Q: Can the Eagles recover from a 1-4 start?
-Bobby C., Sacramento, CA
A: Yes they can. With the lack of a strong team in this division, there’s a slim chance they can still win the division. Also, with the lack of strong teams in the NFC, they could conceivably still be a wildcard team.
Q: Worst BCS conference team: Minnesota or Kansas?
-JW, Lafayette, IN
A: Tough call there. Can we have a tie here? Just kidding. I think that Minnesota is a bad team. Can’t pass. Can’t run. But Kansas does these thing worse. Kansas is the worst of these two.
Q: Since WR Josh Morgan got hurt and Braylon Edwards is out, do you see the 49ers signing another receiver? If so, who do you think they sign?
-Ken L., Silver Valley, NC
A: I’m hearing that they will promote from within, maybe a receiver off their practice squad or a lesser-name receiver. This will give everyone the chance to see 2nd year WR Kyle Williams. He will now get a chance to make some plays and also look for more gadget plays from the 49ers to get the ball in the hands of return man/wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr.
Q: Will Calvin Johnson continue his monster run?
-Steven H., Westbury, NY
A: No question. He is 6’5″, 235 pounds with excellent speed. Megatron is the new cheat code of the NFL. And I mean that in the best of ways.
Thanks for all the questions folks! And remember, if you have sports questions, I have answers!
