Still Got It
LaDanlian Tomlinson just had a great game Sunday. He rushed for 133 yards and 2 TDs in a big win for the Jets over the Buffalo Bills. A lot of people would of never thought that would have happened considering how LT got to New York.
If you go back four years ago, LT was the best running back in the league. He had 1815 yards rushing and 28 TDs. Every since that year, LT’s numbers has steadily declined. Last year, LT only had 730 yards rushing even though he had 12 TDs. He started losing playing time to Darren Sproles as well last year. The writing was on the wall. As brilliant as his career had been in San Diego, the Chargers were ready to move on without him.
The Chargers officially released LT in the spring of this year. It was thought that LT, 30 at that time, was finished. Then, Jets’ brass made the call and offered him a chance to revive his career and get a fresh start. Now, LT had to make a decision. LT decided to go to New York and do what he could do to help his new team get to the Super Bowl.
Fast forward to now and LT is back to his old self. He is in the top ten in the NFL in rushing with 341 yards and rushing TDs with 3 TDs. He is the main figure in what has become a good Jets offense. I have to say that I was one of the first people to throw dirt on LT and declare his career over. I owe him an apology. He has defied the odds and has proved to all of us that he still has a lot left in the tank.
