Matter of Time

The time ticks and the time is missed again. Albert Haynesworth has made himself into somewhat of a spectacle so far this season and the season hasn’t even started yet. First, he didn’t like that Shanahan was changing the defense from a 4-3 scheme to a 3-4 scheme. He said he did not want to be a nose tackle because that is not what he got paid to do and he wanted to be traded. He wanted to get traded so bad that he accepted a $21 million roster bonus from the Redskins. If you really wanted to get traded from a team, would you really have accepted a $21 million signing bonus?

Then, Haynesworth still insists on wanting to be traded and does not show up for any OTA’s.  Of course Coach Shanahan says that he should be there, but he says that Albert told him that he would be ready for training camp. Well, he shows up for training camp and what do you know, Albert is not in shape. After swearing up and down that he is in shape and losing weigh so he does not have to play nose tackle, he shows up out of shape????? You have got to be kidding me.  Haynesworth should be docked pay for everyday that he has to be held out of practice because of his inability to intoduce himself to a gym or a treadmill.

It is embarrassing as a professional athlete to have your job tell you that you cannot participate because you are not fit to do your job. That would be like me going to my job hungover and then getting sent home with pay. That would not happen in my wildest dreams. If you are getting paid to do a job, you should be ready and able to do it! He had all that time to get himself together and he basically did what he used to do with the Titans, show up out of shape and seemingly unmotivated to play.

The way I think that this issue would be solved here and throughout the whole league is that if you don’t do what we pay you to do (show up in shape, play your hardest and do what your coaches ask of you), then you should be docked pay.  The NFL may be a player’s league, but when the players don’t do what they are asked to do when they are paid all that money, they should have to pay the price.  If I were Daniel Snyder, I would have saved my receipt for Albert’s services because it was only a matter of time before he became the lazy, unmotivated player that he has been the majority of his career in Tennessee.

just finished….cold but true. he showed up for TC 40 lbs lighter tho….i think theyre gonna move him to RE…that way, both sides are happy. which would really explain the weight loss. im looking forward to your NFC East breakdown. keep it up, b.

    • You can show up lighter in weight and still be out of shape. I think Albert and Shanahan are going to continue to butt heads all season long. he doesn’t have the work ethic to match his contract.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. In the end its the MAN’S JOB!!!! It’s his career and just with any other career you have expectations that you are paid to live up to. The roster that the Redskins has along with the coaching staff we have in place he should be more than willing and happy to do whatever it takes to play on this team this season. You couldn’t pay me to pay him $2 to be on my Relay for Life team!!!! I can imagine how frustrated the other players are. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!
