The Everyday Man’s College Football Prediction- Week 10

Thursday is here and that means one thing: College Football is back upon us! Without further adieu, here are my select college football games for the weekend!

(10) Virginia Tech vs (21) Georgia Tech
The Hokies travel to the ATL to take on the Yellow Jackets of Gergia Tech. The Hokies are led by RB David Wilson and QB Logan Thomas. Expect the Hokies to attack the Yellow Jackets on the ground all game long with Wilson and Thomas. If the Jackets can stifle the Hokies on the ground, they have a huge chance to win this game. If not, the Yellow Jackets could be in trouble.

QB Tevin Washington must get on track this game. He has stumbled the last few games and opposing defenses have taken advantage of him. Washington must limit the turnovers and take advantages of the opportunities that the Hokie defense will give him. The thing about this game is the Hokies don’t give you a lot of opportunities. And that’s where Virginia Tech and their team will take advantage. Expect Virginia Tech to stop the run and run right at Georgia Tech.
Prediction: Virginia Tech 27, Georgia Tech 23

West Virginia vs (23) Cincinnati
The Mountaineers head to the Queen City to take on the Bearcats. The Moutaineers must get QB Geno Smith going this game. If he gets cooking, watch out Bearcats. But Cincy always has a pretty good defense and they are on a roll. It should be interesting to see which takes over on the field when these two units are on the field.

QB Zak Calleros has been every bit the senior leader for the Bearcats. He has ran and passed the Bearcats back from the relative unknown. They face a West Virginia defense that has taken a step back this year. Expect Calleros to continue the roll he is on. And expect the Mountaineers defense to be sucking wind all game long.
Prediction: Cincinnati 38, West Virginia 24

Wake Forest vs (9) Clemson
The Demon Deacons head to Death Valley to take on the Tigers, who will be looking to continue impressing and winning their game. Expect Wake Forest to come out and air the ball out. For Clemson, they must make things difficult for Wake. The more difficult they make it, the more mistakes Wake Forest will make.

For Clemson, its about one guy and one guy alone: QB Tahj Boyd. He is the key to everything they do. Yes, they have an ultra-talented freshman WR, but Boyd if the most important person on this team and that’s a fact. Expect him to slice and dice the Demon Deacon defense on their way to a big win in Death Valley.
Prediction: Clemson 41, Wake Forest 24

Florida vs South Carolina
The Gators head to Columbia to take on the Gamecocks. Expect offensive coordinator Charlie Weis to try and ease QB John Brantley into the game if he plays. Brantley must lean on the running game some this game to keep pressure off of Brantley. The problem with that is the behemoths that South Carolina has up front.

For South Carolina offensively, expect them to used the running-back by-committee approach to help QB Connor Shaw get comfortable. The battle in the trenches should be one to watch because of the outstanding players that Florida has on their defensive line against the big guys from Columbia. In the end, I don’t think Florida has enough offense to get it done.
Prediction: South Carolina 24, Florida 17

(20) Auburn vs (20) Georgia
The Tigers head to Athens to take on a red-hot Georgia team. QB Clint Mosely has been learning on the job during his time as a starter for the Tigers. Expect Georgia and defensive coordinator Todd Grantham to try to confuse Mosely and make him uncomfortable as well. RB Michael Dyer could ease some of the pressure off of Mosely if he’s able to run the ball well.

This Georgia team has seemed to rally around coach Mark Richt and has saved his job. Expect them to come out and run right at Auburn with Isaiah Crowell (if he plays) and use the play action pass with QB Aaron Murray. The Bulldogs have plenty of offensive weapons, so expect them to spread the ball around and eventually wear down an undermanned Auburn team.
Prediction: Georgia 34, Auburn 20

(7) Oregon vs (4) Stanford
This is the rematch most in PAC-12 land have been looking forward to all year. The Ducks are led by QB Darren Thomas. He has been a little off this year for some reason, but expect him to be more focused for this game. Also expect the running game and the tempo of the game to be key to who wins this game. Another person to keep an eye on is RB/WR DeAnthony Thomas. He’s their Swiss Army knife on offense and he will be all over the field.

The Cardinals are led by one make: QB Andrew Luck. Luck has been so lucky with some of the things he has done on the field this year, but he has been excellent this season still. Expect Luck and the boys to run and pass action pass the Ducks into submission. Also expect the TE’s to be big as well. In the end, Stanford will win this game because they will slow the tempo down and grind it out. And that’s something Oregon cannot do.
Prediction 31, Oregon 27

(2) Oklahoma State vs Texas Tech
The Cowboys head to Lubbock, Texas to take on the Red Raider as the try to find some answers. The Cowboys offense is extremely explosive with the likes of WR Justin Blackmon running down the sideline. If I’m Texas Tech, I make QB Brandon Weeden throw to someone else when he needs the big play. Shutting down these two studs in Blackmon and Weeden will be very difficult.

Texas Tech hasn’t got it together this year. They have been up and they have been down. Well, I expected them to be down worst that they have in a while and it happened. Will all the offense for the Cowboys, the Red Raider offense must show up and produce. If not, this game could really ugly really soon.
Prediction: Oklahoma State 45, Texas Tech 27

(19) Nebraska vs (12) Penn State
First off, before I talk about this game. I want everyone who reads this to take a moment of silence for the kids who were taken advantage of by former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky. Now, for the game. I don’t think there’s anyway these kids can stay focused. The Nittany Lions may be lifeless out there playing without their leader on the field. I expect Nebraska to come out and run right at Penn State.

I’m going to stop previewing this game right here. I feel sorry for the football players of Penn State that are caught up in this mess as well.
Prediction: Hopefully a good game for the Nittany Lion football players

(16) Texas vs Missouri
The Longhorn head to Columbia for the last time in conference. The Longhorns will come out and play well, especially with all the young talent that they have. Expect Missouri to try and put pressure on the running game to make the young Texas QBs have to make throws to win the game. The big question will be can the young QBs come through.

For Missouri, expect them to run and pass at this Texas defense. Now the question for them is can they be consistent? Can’t they put enough pressure to make the Texas defense have to search for answers to solve them? The answers to those questions are no. Expect the Texas defense to rise up and for Texas to give the Missouri Tigers a parting gift.
Prediction: Texas 38, Missouri 14

(3) Alabama vs Mississippi State
The Crimson Tide took a tough loss to a great LSU team last weekend and look to rebound in Starksville against an undermanned Bulldog team. Expect RB Trent Richardson to get back on track against the Bulldog defense. It won’t be easy, but he will release his fury on them. And when he does, expect the Bulldogs to crowd the line of scrimmage. And that’s when QB AJ McCarron will have to take advantage of single-coverage on his receivers. Will the Mississippi State defensive backs be up for the challenge?

Mississippi State has been struggling this year offensively. And after this game, expect their numbers to look even worse. Expect the Crimson Tide to tighten the screws even more and squeeze the life out of this offense. RB Vick Ballard, it could be a hard week for you man. The cold tub awaits you after this game.
Prediction: Alabama 30, Mississippi State 13

These are my predictions for this weekend in college football. Let the games begin and the healing begin at Penn State.

The Everyday Man’s College Football Predictions-Week 10

I know its been a few weeks, but the college football predictions are back! Sorry for the absence. Without further adieu, here are my picks for my select games for this weekend in college football!

Texas A&M vs (6) Oklahoma
The Aggies head to Norman, Oklahoma as a conference rival for the last time. Expect the Aggies to use their running game, led by RB Cyrus Gray, to wear down the Sooners a little bit on the ground. Gray’s effectiveness will help make QB Ryan Tannehill more effective in the passing game with his array of weapons. We will see if the Sooners defense is up for the challenge of facing this explosive offense.

The Sooners are very explosive offensively. QB Landry Jones has some explosive weapons in the passing game with WRs Kenny Stills and Ryan Broyles. But the key weapon for Jones will be the running game. The Aggies defense has shown that they are inconsistent and I expect for that to continue this game. The Aggies offense could keep this game close for a little bit, but ultimately, the Sooners will pull away.
Prediction: Oklahoma 41, Texas A&M 27

(9) South Carolina vs (7) Arkansas
The funny thing about this game is that no one really knows these two top-ranked teams are playing this weekend. The Gamecocks face a major challenge heading to Arkansas, but Arkansas has had its problems stopping the run. Expect the Gamecocks to use the running game to attack the Hogs. If Arkansas stops the run, then QB Connor Shaw will have to step up and lead the team. He has the ultimate weapon on the field in WR Alshon Jeffrey to work with.

Arkansas has a few weapons of their own. They have one of the best QBs in the conference in Tyler Wilson and one of the best weapons in the conference in WR Jarius Wright. But they are going against an intimidating front four from South Carilina. Arkansas must protect the QB and come out with the intensity that has been lacking from them in the first halves of games recently. This game could go down to the wire, but I think the Hogs pull it out in the end. They have too much firepower.
Prediction: Arkansas 38, South Carolina 27

(19) Arizona State vs UCLA
The Sun Devils travel to the City of Angels to play a downtrodden UCLA team. The Sun Devils will attack the Bruins through the air with their multitude of weapons. Expect UCLA to put up some resistance, but they don’t have the horses to keep up with the Sun Devils. It should be interesting to see what things that UCLA does to try to thwart the Sun Devil attack.

The Bruins will lean heavy on the run game. And they must have success there due to the lack of production from the QB position. If not, the Sun Devil defense, led by All-America LB Vontaze Burfict, will make it a long day in California. They say it never rains in Southern California, but the Devils will rain points on the Bruins this weekend.
Prediction: Arizona State 38, UCLA 14

(14) Kansas State vs (3) Oklahoma State
Kansas State travels to Stillwater to take on a high-powered Cowboys team. The Cowboys are led by Brandon Weeden, an outstanding veteran QB with great touch and accuracy. And he’s got a great weapon to play with in WR Justin Blackmon. Expect these two to have another great day against this Wildcat defense. The Wildcats must get some sort of pressure on Weeden to even have a chance this game.

The Cowboys have one man and one man alone to stop: QB Collin Klein. He’s is their leading passer and also their leading rusher. Klein must have a big day for the Wildcats to stay close. If this game becomes a high-scoring affair, look for the Wildcats to fade as the game goes on. Eventually, the Cowboys will make another statement on national TV.
Prediction: Oklahoma State 48, Kansas State 21

(8) Oregon vs Washington
The Ducks head up to the Dawg Pound to face the Huskies. Expect the high-paced offense of Oregon to be on display. QB Darren Thomas must be more effective and accurate than the previous games. He’s been scuffling a little bit lately. As far as the running game, the three-headed monster at RB. These guys are explosive! Washington can only hope to try and limit their explosiveness. Its gonna be a tough task.

Washington is a young team on the rise. They have a lot of explosive parts as well. The trouble is, they will more than likely be playing from behind. They must be up for the challenge this week. It should be interesting to see what happens.
Prediction: Oregon 45, Washington 21

Vandy vs Florida
The Commodores head to the Swamp to take on the Florida Gators. The Commodores offense has gained more rhythm since Jordan Rodgers became the starting QB. Expect the Commodores new QB to have to make as many plays with his legs as his arms. He’ll have to because defensive lineman Jay Howard will be lurking and chasing him the whole game. Warren Norman must be effective as well. He is key to slowing down the rush of the Gators.

QB John Brantley proved to not be the answer to the Florida offensive lulls. He helped some, but he just could not get it done. In this game, he must come out and be effective in the passing game. He must also be careful with the football because the Commodore secondary, led by CB Casey Heyward, are very active and they are very opportunistic. The kep guy in this game will be RB/WR Chris Rainey. If the Gators get explosive plays out of him, they should be able to survive the tough Vandy defense. Expect this game to be close.
Prediction: Florida 23, Vanderbilt 17

Ole Miss vs Kentucky
The Rebels go to the Commonwealth to face the Wildcats in the game dubbed the Toilet Bowl. These two SEC teams have been downright offensive. Well, in this game, expect the Rebels to come out strong with QB Randall Mackey leading the way. Mackey will threaten the Wildcat defense with his running and throwing ability. Mackey teamed with RB Jeff Scott spells danger for Kentucky.

QB Morgan Newton has been underwhelming this year. For the Wildcats to have a chance, he must be focused and sharp. He has to make plays due to the injuries and overall ineffectiveness of the running game. Well, this game, the running game may be somewhat effective due to the lack of defense in Rebel Land. This game will not be pretty, but expect the Rebels to come out on top.
Prediction: Ole Miss 27, Kentucky 13

Texas Tech vs (21) Texas
The Red Raiders head to Austin to take on the Texas Longhorns. The Red Raiders will put the ball up a bunch of times this game. For the Longhorns to stop the Red Raiders, they must get pressure on the QB. If not, xpect the Longhorns to have their hands full trying to stop Texas Tech.

The QB carousel has been working for the Longhorns this year so far. Expect them to continue to rotate QBs with Ash and McCoy. These guys are important to their success but ultimately, RB Malcolm Brown is the deciding factor in this game. If he is active and effective in the running game, expect this game to stay close and expect this game to slow down. In a slower pace game, the advantage goes to Texas.
Prediction: Texas 27, Texas Tech 21

(15) Michigan vs Iowa
The Maize in Blue head down the road to take on Iowa. QB Denard Robinson has been playing in his element the last few weeks. Robinson has been running the football more and finding more success. He must continue to run the ball with success this week and mix in the pass for big plays. It should be interesting to see if the Iowa defense is up for the challenge.

For Iowa, they must get it together in offensively. They have been inconsistent and must get back down to the basics. Expect Iowa to run the ball to set up the play-action pass. For Michigan, they must continue to improve defensively and keep the Iowa offense out of favorable down and distances. Expect Michigan to eventually come out on top. Speed kills.
Prediction: Michigan 30, Iowa 20

(1)LSU vs (2)Alabama
This game has been dubbed the Game of The Century. The Crimson Tide and Tigers come in rested and ready. Both teams are running teams. The telling sign will be which team will be able to stay on schedule. Will that be Alabama or LSU? The Tigers will be relying on RB Spencer Ware to get it done on the ground. It could be a tough night due to the tough Alabama defense. They are the third ranked defense in the FBS.

The Crimson Tide have one of the best weapons in college football in Trent Richardson. Richardson has a tough task as well. The LSU defense is top-ranked as well. Expect the LSU defense to force Crimson Tide QB AJ McCarron to make some plays. In the end, I believe that Saban will break out some new wrinkles to confuse LSU QB Jarrett Lee and the Alabama Crimson Tide will prevail at home.
Prediction: Alabama 20, LSU 13

These are my predictions for the weekend of college football! Hope you all enjoy the games!

The Everyday Man’s College Football Prediction- Week 6

Another exciting weekend of college football is upon us. Some teams have some stiff challenges in front of them. Some teams have to prove they’re for real. Others have to try to right the ship. Without further adieu, here are my picks for the top games in college football this weekend.

Maryland vs (13) Georgia Tech
Maryland heads to Atlanta to take on the red-hot Yellow Jackets. QB Danny O’Brien and crew must get it going offensively this game. If they put together consistent drives and take time off the clock, they may make Georgia Tech come out of their game plan. Georgia Tech has to be licking their chops. They are leading college football in rushing yards per game and they will be facing the ACC’s worst defense. Maryland just hasn’t looked good the last few games and I don’t think they will look great this game going against an option-style offense.
Prediction: Georgia Tech 41, Maryland 20

(3) Oklahoma vs (11) Texas
The Red River Shootout pits the veteran Sooners against the young Longhorns. Expect Oklahoma to keep the tempo at a high pace. Continuing to do this will tire out the Longhorn defense. If Oklahoma doesn’t do that, then expect Defensive Coordinator Manny Diaz to crank up the pressure from all angles. For Texas, its all about making sure to stay on schedule offensively. If the Longhorns start getting into 3rd-and-long situations, it could be a long game. I suspect that Texas’ youth will work against them.
Prediction: Oklahoma 34, Texas 23

Miami vs (21) Virginia Tech
Jacory Harris leads this Hurricane squad into Blacksburg to take on a Virginia Tech squad that’s still smarting from last week. For Miami, they must lean on the running game, strong LB play and timely passing if they are to win. If Harris is forced to have to pass to win the game, then we could see the Virginia Tech defense start to come to life. As far as Virginia Tech, they must also lean on the running game and hope that their young QB learns from the last game against Clemson. My thinking is that Virginia Tech just isn’t ready for primetime offensively this year.
Prediction: Miami 20, Virginia Tech 10

Vanderbilt vs (2) Alabama
The Commodores enter their October to remember by taking on the Crimson Tide. Now, an upset is highly unlikely, but if Vandy is to upset Alabama, they must get better play from QB Larry Smith and more production out of the running game. If neither of these two happen, look for Alabama to take control and leave no doubts early. Trent Richardson will be a handful for Vandy. Vandy’s defense has been good, but the difference between this game and last is that Steven Garcia will not be at QB throwing interceptions this week.
Prediction: Alabama 38, Vanderbilt 13

Ohio State vs (14) Nebraska
The Buckeyes make their first conference trip to Nebraska to take on a Husker team that is still searching for some answers. Well, the best thing for Nebraska is they play the Buckeyes. Ohio State has been pretty bad offensively and they will still be missing a few key players from last season( Posey, Herron). Expect the Huskers to get healthy this game. The challenge for the Huskers will be finding out if Taylor Martinez is truly the QB for them to succeed. With Martinez, the Huskers are handicapped in the passing game. It should be interesting to watch the Buckeyes try to stop the Huskers. Look for this game to be close.
Prediction: Nebraska 24, Ohio State 16

Georgia vs Tennessee
The Bulldogs travel to Rocky Top to take on a Vols team that got back on the winning track last week against the University of Buffalo. Georgia has played against the Magnolia State(Mississippi, Mississippi State) the last few weeks and seems to be hitting their stride. For them to continue building momentum, Isaiah Crowell must continue to provide balance to what QB Aaron Murray can do in the passing game. Tennessee must put pressure on Georgia and make them one-dimensional by taking away Crowell. For Tennessee, they must get the ground game going. If they do, expect more things to open up for super-soph Tyler Bray and crew in the passing game. I expect the Vols to have their rough spots without another super-soph, WR Justin Hunter, but they will work through it and pull this game out at home.
Prediction: Tennessee 27, Georgia 21

California vs (9) Oregon
Cal heads to Oregon to take on a team slowly creeping their way back to the top. Cal was famous for players getting “injured” and slowing the Duck’s pace on offense last year. Well, I would expect them to possibly try the same thing this game. The only thing is they would be just delaying the inevitable. I know that WR Keenan Allen is playing well for California, but he just isn’t enough, especially on the road.
Prediction: Oregon 47, California 20

(23) Florida State vs Wake Forest
Will EJ Manuel be back this week? That’s the big question. If he is back, it should be interesting to see if he is his usual self or if he is protective of his shoulder. The Deacons hope that he doesn’t play because they know where QB Clint Trickett will be all game: in the pocket. Manuel would cause them serious issues. Expect Florida State to sling the ball around the yard regardless of who plays QB. For Wake Forest, they are equally adapt to passing the ball as well. In fact, if the Wake Forest passing game doesn’t get going, then expect plenty of trouble for them against a speedy Seminole defense.
Prediction: Florida State 34, Wake Forest 17

Missouri vs (20)Kansas State
Missouri heads to the Little Apple this week to take on a tough Kansas State team. For Missouri, they must get balance offensively. If they have to throw every play to win, they could be in trouble against this athletic defense. For Missouri, the gameplan is simple: make the Wilcats have to throw. The Wildcats are going to try and run the ball over and over and over again. In passing situations, their offense looks pretty inept. I think Missouri goes into Manhattan, Kansas and shows us all that the Wildcats aren’t for real.
Prediction: Missouri 30, Kansas State 24

(15)Auburn vs (10) Arkansas
The Tigers head to Fayetteville to take on a fired up Razorback team. RB Michael Dyer was outstanding last week in his matchup against the Gamecock defense and I expect him to pick up where he left off. He will be key for this Tiger team because if he runs well, they will be able to control the pace and limit the possessions that Arkansas has. For Arkanas, its all about getting the ball in its playmakers’ hands. If QB Tyler Wilson can distribute the ball around, look for the Tigers to have a long day defensively. This game will more than likely be a barnburner.
Prediction: Arkansas 38, Auburn 34

(17) Florida vs (1) LSU
John Driskel, I hope you’re ready! Florida QB John Brantley is out for the game, so expect LSU to crank up the pressure on the young freshman QB. For Driskel to be effective, he needs help out of his running game and he also needs to be put in positions that play to his strengths, like bootlegs or designed roll-out passes. But even with that, the athleticism of the Tigers could negate that still. For LSU, Jarrett Lee has to get back focused. If the running game of the Tigers is going good, Lee will have plenty of chances to take advantage of the young CBs of the Gators. Expect the Gators to fight hard, but in the end, they fall short.
Prediction: LSU 31, Florida 17

These are my predictions for the week! Let the games begin!

The Everyday Man’s College Football Predictions- Week 5

College football produced some exciting games last weekend. And looking at the games we have this weekend, more excitement could be coming. Here’s my predictions some big games this weekend in college football!

(16) Texas A & M vs (18) Arkansas
The Aggies try to rebound this weekend vs an Arkansas team fresh off a bad loss to Alabama. For the Aggies, they must come into this game focused. Last week, they were up big and let Oklahoma State come back and win the game. They should be able to run the ball against the Razorbacks, but then again, this is a Razorback defense that is embarrassed and trying to earn some respect back. I think that this game will come down to offense. I think QB Tyler Wilson will get it going this week and turn up the heat on the Aggie defense in Dallas.
Prediction: Arkansas 41, Texas A & M 31

Kentucky vs (1) LSU
This game could get ugly real quick. The Wildcats have looked awful offensively. And this week gets no easier with the Tiger defense coming in as the best defense in college football. Wildcat QB Morgan Newton could be running for his life all game. QB Jarrett Lee continues to be the starting QB despite the return of QB Jordan Jefferson. Lee will eventually shred the Wildcat defense as well as continue to watch the RB tandem of Spencer Ware and Michael Ford run defenses into submission. Cover your eyes Wildcat fans. This game could go behind the woodshed.
Prediction: LSU 45, Kentucky 7

Auburn vs (10) South Carolina
The Tigers head to Columbia to take on the best back in the SEC. Auburn got back in track with an easy win last week, but this week, QB Barrett Trotter has to look at freshman DE Jadeveon Clowney and crew every single play. Trotter has to hope RB Michael Dyer and crew get the run game going. The Gamecocks ride or die on the legs of RB Marcus Lattimore. Lattimore is exactly who the Tigers don’t want to see because they struggle against the run. If Gamecock QB Steven Garcia can focus, then this game will be a blowout. Unfortunately, he won’t and that will keep this game closer than most expect.
Prediction: South Carolina 27, Auburn 17

(15) Baylor vs Kansas State
The Robert Griffin show is headed to the Little Apple. Kansas State poses a little more of a threat for Baylor because their defense has been stingy all year. Expect the Bears to try and spread the Wildcats. That will create running and throwing lanes for Griffin to get loose. For Kansas State, they will need to have balance against Baylor. If they play balanced and limit the Baylor possessions, they can stay in this game, and they will stay in this game for a little while but in the end, just too much Baylor.
Prediction: Baylor 38, Kansas State 20

(13) Clemson vs (11) Virginia Tech
Clemson heads to Blacksburg for a huge showdown in the ACC. Clemson QB Tahj Boyd is playing out of his mind right now. With the Tigers spreading out Hokies, expect WR Sammie Watkins to go out and play well again as well. For Virginia Tech, this is their first true test of the year. It will be interesting to see how they respond to a tough challenge. I don’t know if they’re ready yet.
Prediction: Clemson 31, Virginia Tech 24

(8) Nebraska vs (7) Wisconsin
The Huskers make their Big 10 debut in Camp Randall at night against the Badgers. QB Taylor Martinez has improved this year. The question will be has he improved enough to beat teams passing. I expect Wisconsin to test that theory defensively. QB Russell Wilson has been the missing piece that was added to the puzzle in Wisconsin. Expect the Badgers to run the ball with RB Monte Ball and put the ball in the hands or WR Nick Toon when they decide to pass. Another factor is Camp Randall at night. The Badgers are almost unbeatable there at night.
Prediction: Wisconsin 34, Nebraska 21

Oregon State vs (25) Arizona State
The Oregon State Beavers have had a rough go of it so far this year. Well, it doesn’t get any easier heading into the desert. The Beavers must be effective on the ground to give themselves a chance. But this could be very difficult with the presence of All-America LB Vontaze Burfict on the field. As far as the offense, expect Arizona State to air the ball out and attack a Beaver defense that is undermanned. The heat is gonna get real hot in Arizona.
Prediction: Arizona State 48, Oregon 17

UCLA vs (6) Stanford
The Bruins head down to Palo Alto, CA to take on the reigning Heisman winner, QB Andrew Luck. Expect the Bruins to use the run to slow the game down. if successful, this game could be close for a while. If not, QB Andrew Luck will go to work against a defense that was shredded by a struggling Texas defense. I bet Luck is licking his chops. Another ugly one out West.
Prediction: Stanford 35, UCLA 10

(11) Texas vs Iowa State
Texas travels up to see a team that embarrassed them at home last year. Expect the Longhorns to remember that. The Longhorns will come out and attack the Cyclones in the run game. When that gets going, expect the combo of Ash and McCoy at QB to go to work. For Iowa State, they need Steel Janz to be spectacular. Unfortunately, I don’t think that happens this game against defensive coordinator Manny Diaz’s offense.
Prediction: Texas 27, Iowa State 14

(3) Alabama vs (12) Florida
The Crimson Tide head to the Swamp in what some see as a potential SEC Championship showdown. The Tide O-line has a big matchup against a veteran defensive line in Florida. If the Tide win this matchup, then there won’t be any pressure on QB AJ McCarron. If the Tide are unsuccessful running, McCarron must step up and get the job done. For Florida, they must get the ball in the hands of their playmakers, Demps and Chris Rainey. But even with these guys getting touches, none of the Florida receivers will threaten the Tide DBs. And because of that, expect the Tide to crowd the line of scrimmage and make Gator QB John Brantley beat them. The thing is, Brantley can’t do it.
Prediction: Alabama 27, Florida 23

These are my predictions for the weekend. Let the games begin!!!

The Everyday Man’s College Football Predictions-Week 4

Its nearing to Saturday and you know what that means. College football time! Here are my Predictions for my Select 10 games for this weekend in college football!

(7) Oklahoma State vs (8) Texas A & M
The Cowboys head down to Aggieland in this huge matchup. Oklahoma State is led by star QB Brandon Weeden and WR Justin Blackmon. Expect them to put the ball in the air early and often. The Aggies will need to play their best game in the secondary. If they keep the Cowboys in front of them and force them to have to work for everything, the there is more opportunity for Oklahoma State to make a mistake. For the Aggies, expect them to use RB Cyrus Gray and WR Jeff Fuller a lot. If the Aggies stay balanced and control the time of possession, they should be able to take care of business at home. It should be an entertaining game.
Prediction: Texas A & M 45, Oklahoma State 38

(14) Arkansas vs (3) Alabama

The Razorbacks head to Bryant Denny Stadium to take on the Crimson Tide in a big matchup in the SEC West. The Razorbacks are led by QB Tyler Wilson. He must keep his poise against this fearsome defense, led by LB Donta Hightower and CB Dre Kilpatrick. If he’s able to hold his composure in the pocker, expect him to test the Crimson Tide secondary with weapons like WR Greg Childs and Joe Adams. For the Crimson Tide, they must establish the run with RB Trent Richardson. If not, QB AJ McCarron could be in trouble with the improved Razorback defense on his heels. In the end, the more physical team will win. And that team is the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Prediction: Alabama 31, Arkansas 24

(11) Florida State vs (21) Clemson

Florida State comes off a heartbreaking loss to Oklahoma and heads to Death Valley to face the surging Clemson Tigers. Seminole QB EJ Manuel could be out for this game, but don’t expect any change in the tempo the Seminoles set. Expect them to give the Tigers multiple formations and expect them to be as balanced as possible, considering EJ Manuel is their best runner. For Clemson, this game is another game that could be huge for QB Tahj Boyd. He must continue to build on the confidence he obtained last weekend vs Auburn. Expect the Tigers to spread the Seminoles out and test their secondary. The Seminoles will be up for challenge.
Prediction: Florida State 27, Clemson 21

Vanderbilt vs (12) South Carolina

The Commodores head to Gamecock territory to take on a talented South Carolina team. For Vandy to stay in this game, they must control the tempo and the offense must sustain drives. If QB Larry Smith is able to manage this offense, the ‘Dores will have a good shot to pull off the upset. If the talented South Carolina defense has anything to say about it, the ‘Dores will be unsettled all game. For South Carolina offensively, they must impose their will on the smaller Vandy defense. If South Carolina and RB Marcus Lattimore get it going on the ground, then this game could get ugly. I expect Vandy to fight and play hard, but in the end, Lattimore will be too much.
Prediction: South Carolina 27, Vanderbilt 17

(23) USC vs Arizona State

The Men of Troy head to the Desert to take on the Sun Devils. Star QB Matt Barkley has been putting up numbers. Expect this game to be more of a challenge for him with the with the likes of All-America LB Vontaze Burfict putting pressure on him. If Barkley has time, expect him to look for WR Robert Woods early and often. For Arizona State, expect them to put the ball up early and often as well. The only difference is USC doesn’t have enough defense to stop Arizona State.
Prediction: Arizona State 31, USC 21

(10) Oregon vs Arizona

The Oregon Ducks head to down to Arizona to take on the Wildcats. For Oregon, expect them to use speed, speed and more speed against the Wildcats. QB Darren Thomas and crew will rev up the tempo. The question will be can the Arizona defense respond? As far as the Arizona offense, expect them to air it out. But the difference is the Oregon defense will eventually cause the Wildcats to crumble.
Prediction: Oregon 48, Arizona 27

(15) Florida vs Kentucky

The Gators head to the Commonwealth to take on a Wildcat team that has been largely unimpressive this year. Kentucky must find RB/WR Chris Rainey everytime he is in the game. He is by far the best weapon that Florida has. He also has to be accounted for on special teams as well. If I were Kentucky, I wouldn’t kick to him. For Kentucky, their offense will have a tough time generating offense vs Florida DL Jay Howard and crew. The best way for Kentucky to attack the Gators will be to go at their young corners. They are talented, but they tend to try to be a little too overzealous in being physical, which leads to pass interference penalties. It could be a long day for the Wildcats.
Prediction: Florida 45, Kentucky 17

San Diego State vs (22) Michigan

The Aztecs travel to the Big House to take on the Wolverines. Expect the Aztecs to attack the Wolverines with multiple formations. Michigan must be ready for that and they must play more sound defensively. If they come correct defensively, then they should be fine. As far as offense, the Wolverines must take the reins off QB Denard Robinson and let him be himself. And that means letting him run the ball. He is not a pocket passer and I think he’s better when he’s on the move. Expect Robinson to make some plays this game to carry Michigan to victory.
Prediction: Michigan 37, San Diego State 21

Louisiana Tech vs Mississippi State

The Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech head down to Starkville to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Louisiana Tech spreads the field, so expect them to try to find creative ways to get the ball to their playmakers, RB Lennon Creer and WR Quinton Patton. These two could give Mississippi State problems if they don’t come prepared. Patton vs the Mississippi State DBs should be a good matchup. On defense, the Bulldogs better be ready for the Mississippi State to run right at them with QB Chris Relf and crew. This game will be close for a little while, but in the end, the more physical team should win out.
Prediction: Mississippi State 35, Louisiana Tech 24

(2) LSU vs (16) West Virginia
The Tigers head to Morgantown to take on the Mountaineers of West Virginia. Expect the Mountaineers to try to spread the field and try to use the strength of their passing game behind their veteran QB Geno Smith. LSU should be game with the wide array of athletes they have on the defensive side of the ball. Offensively, expect the Tigers to run right at the Mountaineers. The question will be if the Mountaineers can stop them. I don’t think they can. LSU wins in a close one.
Prediction: LSU 24, West Virginia 20

These are my predictions for the weekend’s big games. Let the games begin!!!!

The Everyday Man’s College Football Predictions- Week 3

Its college football time! I repeat. Its college football time! I know its Week 3 of the season in all actuality, but the excitement of college football is already at a fevered pitch. Some of the matchups this week should help take the excitement up another level. Here are my predictions for some of the notable games in college football this weekend!

(3) LSU vs. (25) Mississippi State
The Bayou Bengals make their way down to Starkville to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs, fresh off a loss to Auburn last week. Look for LSU to run the ball relentlessly at Mississippi State all game. If Mississippi State is able to shut down the run of LSU, look for the Bulldogs to have the advantage because LSU QB Jarrett Lee will have to throw to win, and that’s not their strong suit. For Mississippi State, look for them to keep the ball on the ground as well. RB Vic Ballard has to be a huge factor as well as QB Chris Relf. In the end, it will come down to which team is more physical. Advantage: LSU.
Prediction: LSU 27, Mississippi State 24

(18) West Virginia vs. Maryland
The Mountaineers take their show to Maryland to take on the Terps. Look for the Mountaineers to push the tempo at the Terps all game long. QB Geno Smith is the key for the Mountaineers offense. If he is proficient, it could be a long day for the Terp defense. For the Terps, the game rides on the shoulders of sophomore QB Danny O’Brien. He must guide his team to more TD’s instead of field goals. I think he finishes drives this week.
Prediction: Maryland 31, West Virginia 27

(21) Auburn vs. Clemson
Auburn take their show to Death Valley in this battle of Tigers vs Tigers. For Auburn, QB Barrett Trotter has been all they can ask for. His leadership along with the running of RB Michael Dyer will be a lot for the Clemson defense to handle. For Clemson, they are a young team. I expect QB Tahj Boyd to struggle as he gets used to be the QB for this team.
Prediction: Auburn 34, Clemson 17

Tennessee vs. (16) Florida
The Vols head to the Swamp to take on a resurgent Gator fan trying to return to prominence in the SEC. For the Vols, QB Tyler Bray has been spectacular so far. He must continue his stellar play against a young seconday for Florida. WRs Justin Hunter and Darick Rogers will give the Gators fits if Bray is given time to hit them down the field. The Florida front 7 will have to be tremendous to slow down the Vol offense. QB John Brantley and crew will get their chance to see how good they are so far this year vs the best competition they’ve seen all year. Something tells me they aren’t quite ready just yet.
Prediction: Tennessee 27, Florida 20

(15) Michigan State vs. Notre Dame
The Spartans head to Sound Bend looking to beat up on a beatdown Notre Dame team. QB Kirk Cousins will create real problems for Notre Dame. He will be the best QB that they have faced so far. The Notre Dame defense must be on alert and on top of their game to at least slow Cousins down. QB Tommy Rees and crew must finish games. I think this week, they get it done and finish the job.
Prediction: Notre Dame 30, Michigan State 27

Washington vs. (11) Nebraska
The Huskies head to the Lincoln to take on a Nebraska team that has speed to burn. The Huskies must keep all eyes on QB Taylor Martinez. If they don’t do a good job of “spying” him, he could beat them almost single-handedly. For Washington, life after Jake Locker will be a rough one. The best bet for Washington would be to run the ball and limit Nebraska’s possessions.
Prediction: Nebraska 48, Washington 17

(22) Arizona State vs. Illinois
Fresh off a huge win vs Missouri, the Sun Devils head to Champaign to take on Zook and the boys. Expect Arizona State to air the football out offensively. The Illini must get pressure Sun Devil QB Brock Osweiler or it could be curtains quickly. For the Illini, QB Nathan Scheelhaase is multifaceted. Look for him to run and pass as best he can to keep Illinois in the game. The bad news for him is he has to go against LB Vontaze Burfict.
Prediction: Arizona State 38, Illinois 17

(17) Ohio State vs Miami
The Buckeyes are taking their talents to South Beach to take on the Hurricanes. The Buckeyes haven’t been very impressive this season. Well, to win this game, they must be on top of their game. All-America LB Sean Spence is back lurking the middle of the field. It should be interesting to see how Ohio State accounts for him. For Miami, they must be more efficient offensively. If senior QB Jacory Harris is on point for Miami, then Miami will have a great chance to win this game, especially at home.
Prediction: Miami 28, Ohio State 24

(6) Stanford vs. Arizona
QB Andrew Luck takes his show on the road to the desert. Luck is probably licking his chops after watching the Wildcat defense get dismantled by the Oklahoma State offense. He could be the next contestant on “So You Want To Embarrass The Wildcat Defense” this week. For Arizona, their best chance is to outscore the Cardinal. Good luck trying Arizona.
Prediction: Stanford 41, Arizona 20

(1) Oklahoma vs (5) Florida State
Oklahoma heads to Tallahassee to take on a revived Seminole football squad. QB Levi Jones will have a tough assignment as he takes on the speed of the Seminole defense. WR Ryan Broyles will have to be special this game. QB EJ Manuel will have to be on top of his game as well. As the QB goes so goes the Seminoles. Unfortunately, Manuel is not ready for primetime just yet.
Prediction: Oklahoma 24, Florida State 20

These are my predictions for the week. Let the games begin!!!!

TEM’s College Bowl Game Predictions ( BSC Bowls )

Now that I’ve predicted all the smaller bowl games, its time to predict the big games.

Rose Bowl ( TCU vs. Wisconsin )
TCU is coming in after destroying the competition all year. QB Andy Dalton hasn’t done it all by himself though. He has a stable of young RBs that can cause problems for Wisconsin. The bad thing for TCU is they are about to play the hottest team in the Big 10. Wisconsin is the most physical team in the BIg 10 and they are going to try to outphysical TCU. They will run the ball at TCU all day with James White, Monte Ball and company. Can TCU step up to the challenge? I don’t think so.
Prediction: Wisconsin 34, TCU 24

Fiesta Bowl ( Oklahoma vs. Connecticut )
This should be the least exciting of the BCS games. Oklahoma has tremendous firepower at RB and WR. The task for the Huskies will be to keep all these playmakers in check. The main assignment for the Sooners will be to keep RB Jordan Todman in check. If they are able to do that, QB Zach Fraser cannot beat them.
Prediction: Oklahoma 38, Connecticut 13

Orange Bowl ( Stanford vs. Virginia Tech )
The Cardinal travel to South Beach t take on The Hokies in what should be a competitive game. Stanford QB Andrew Luck is the straw that stirs the drink for the Cardinal. He must be effective and precise against Bud Foster’s Hokie defense. If he is patient and takes what they give him, he should be able to eventually hit them with the big play. Virginia Tech must get the running game going with RBs Ryan Williams and Darren Evans. If they do, then that makes QB Tyrod Taylor even more dangerous. Taylor is an elusive runner and a dangerous passer at times and the running game would also open up the play-action passing game for him. Expect some big plays this game.
Prediction: Stanford 31, Virginia Tech 24

Sugar Bowl ( Ohio State vs. Arkansas )
The Buckeyes head to New Orleans to meet a fired up Arkansas team. The Buckeyes must have balance on offense. If they have to depend on QB Tyrelle Pryor running and throwing all day, then there could be problems for them. Arkansas has one of the most explosive offenses in the nation. They must be able to run the football against Ohio State’s front seven so QB Ryan Mallette can hit the big plays for Arkansas. WR Joe Adams will be a player to watch this game.
Prediction: Arkansas 34, Ohio State 23

BCS National Championship Game ( Oregon vs. Auburn )
Oregon and Auburn come into this game as two of the most explosive offenses in America. The Ducks must be physical with Auburn in order to win. They run a spread offense, but they are a very physical team. RB LaMichael James and WR Jeff Maehl must be productive for QB Darren Thomas. The tempo of the Oregon offense won’t be a factor because Auburn’s offense runs the same tempo with their offense. Thomas will be key this game because he must win the matchups against the Aburn secondary. QB Cam Newton has carried the Auburn offense, but he has had help shouldering the load. RBs Michael Dyer and Ontario McCaleb will have to be effective against the Oregon front seven. In the end, it all comes down to who can withstand the other’s initial surge. In my estimation, Auburn is more equipped to do that. They have been behind this year before and know how to come back from any deficit. Auburn is your National Champion.
Prediction: Auburn 42, Oregon 31

These are the championship round predictions for the Bowl season. Let the games begin!!!

TEM’s 2011 College Bowl Game Predictions (Non-BCS Bowl Games)

The best season of the year is here. No, not the holiday season. Its the bowl season! Of course I will be predicting all the bowl games this year as well. Without any further adieu, here are my predictions for this year’s non-BCS college bowl games.

New Mexico Bowl ( BYU vs, UTEP )
BYU and UTEP take their high-flying shows to the New Mexico Bowl. The Cougars are led by RB JJ Di Luigi. He is their leading rusher and receiver. The Miners must locate and find him on the field at all times. For the Miners, its all about confidence. They stumbled into this bowl game. They must play hard and together for Coach Mike Price in order to win.
Prediction: BYU 24, UTEP 13

Humanitarian Bowl ( Northern Illinois vs. Fresno State )
Northern Illinois and Fresno State take their post-season battle to the blue turf of Boise, Idaho. Fresno State must come out running the football. If they do, they will limit the possessions for Northern Illinois. If the Bulldogs aren’t effective running the ball, then Northern Illinois will spread them out and pick them apart. This should be a classic battle of the ground game versus the air attack.
Prediction: Fresno State 23, Northern Illinois 20

New Orleans Bowl ( Troy vs. Ohio)
Frank Solich returns to bowl play as he leads Ohio versus Troy. Troy likes to spread the ball around. Look for them to spread out Ohio. Troy is equally good running the ball as they are throwing, so Ohio has to be prepared for both. Ohio must have their QB, Boo Jackson, play like he has all year and not freeze up in the bright lights. If Boo plays up to his capabilities, there’s no one that can stop him.
Prediction: Ohio 27, Troy 21

Beef O’ Brady Bowl ( Louisville vs. Southern Mississippi )
The Big East takes on Conference USA in Tampa, Florida. Louisville must use their spread attack to run on the Golden Eagles. The Eagles will use their spread attack to attack the Cardinals as well. The difference in this game is that Louisville Head Coach Charlie Strong used to practice against the spread at the highest level of football every week.
Prediction: Louisville 33, Southern Mississippi 23

MAACO Bowl ( Boise State vs. Utah )
Boise State takes on Utah in Vegas this year. RB Eric Wide is the focus of the Utah offense. If Boise State is able to stop him, they should be able to shut down the Utes offense. I don’t foresee the Broncos offense having too much trouble with the Utes defense.
Prediction: Boise State 37, Utah 17

Poinsettia Bowl (San Diego State vs. Navy )
This game should be pretty fast movin. The Aztecs have been an efficient offense all season, but their defense has to play assignment football against the Midshipmen. If the Midshipmen aren’t successful running the football, they could have serious issues.
Prediction: Navy 24, San Diego State 20

Hawaii Bowl ( Hawaii vs. Tulsa )
This game should be one of the highest scoring games this bowl season. Expect each offense to spread the opposing defense out. Ultimately, the home field advantage will be the difference in the game.
Prediction: Hawaii 45, Tulsa 38

Little Caesar’s Pizza Bowl ( Toledo vs. Florida International )
This game should be interesting. Florida International will win the game if they hold on to the ball. If they don’t, Toledo will make them pay. They are one of the best teams in the country at forcing turnovers. Also, watch out for sophomore WR Eric Page of the Toledo Rockets. He is their playmaker.
Prediction: Toledo 31, Florida International 17

Independence Bowl ( Air Force vs. Georgia Tech )
This game will be decided by the running game. Air Force will put the ball up a couple times, but Georgia Tech should be able to take that away. RB Anthony Allen for the Yellow Jackets could be a difference-maker in this game.
Prediction: Georgia Tech 24, Air Force 17

Champs Bowl ( West Virginia vs. NC State )
This Big East vs. ACC battle should be pretty good. If NC State can contain RB Noel Divine, their chances of winning will improve. For the Wolf Pack, the game is on the shoulders of QB Russell Wilson. As he goes, so goes the team.
Prediction: NC State 24, West Virginia 20

Insight Bowl ( Missouri vs. Iowa )
Missouri comes into this game healthy and ready. Iowa comes into this game with their leading rusher and receiver suspended for the game. Stanzi will be under a lot of pressure in this game.
Prediction: Missouri 31, Iowa 13

Military Bowl ( Maryland vs. East Carolina )
Both teams aren’t really appealing t the eyes, but both have good QBs. Danny O’Brien is a young QB who can beat you with his arm and his legs. QB Dominick Davis is a former QB for Boston College, so he is used to seeing Maryland. His athleticism and play-making ability should carry them to the victory.
Prediction: East Carolina 26, Maryland 17

Texas Bowl ( Baylor vs. Illinois )
Defense will be optional in this game. Baylor can’t stop anyone, but they can score points on anyone with QB Rober Griffin III. For the Illini, they must run the football at the Baylor Bears to shorten the game and the possessons the Bears get.
Prediction: Illinois 38, Baylor 28

Alamo Bowl ( Oklahoma State vs. Arizona )
The Cowboys will spread out the Wildcats in this game. Arizona will run the ball to limit the possessions of Oklahoma State, but the Cowboys will prove to be unstoppable, especially with WR Justin Blackmon in uniform.
Prediction: Oklahoma State 34, Arizona 23

Armed Forces Bowl ( SMU vs. Army )
Coach June Jones will spread out this Army team. Army will not have an answer for the passing attack of the Mustangs. They will try to run the ball, but the Mustangs will score too fast for that to make a difference.
Prediction: SMU 31, Army 17

Pinstripe Bowl ( Syracuse vs. Kansas State )
Syracuse will be balanced in its attack of the Wildcats. For the Wildcats to be successful, they must run the ball well. If the Orange can stop the Wildcats on the ground, they can win this game. Too bad they can’t.
Prediction: Kansas State 23, Syracuse 13

Music City Bowl ( North Carolina vs. Tennessee )
North Carolina will pose a stiff challenge for Tyler Bray. It will be interesting to see if he rises to the occasion or if he folds under pressure. For Tennessee, A.J. Yates is a big concern. They must confuse him all game and force him into mistakes. This game will go down to the wire.
Prediction: Tennessee 27, North Carolina 23

Holiday Bowl ( Nebraska vs. Washington )
The Huskers should have the advantage in this game. If they come out and play the way that they are capable of, they should blow out Washington. If they allow them to hang around, QB Jake Locker and company could win this game. I think Nebraska hangs on and wins this game.
Prediction: Nebraska 24, Washington 20

Meineke Car Care Bowl ( Clemson vs. South Florida )
Clemson has been the more consistent team of these two. Clemson has QB Kyle Parker and they also have a consistent running game. QB BJ Daniels is the offense for the Bulls. If he plays well, the Bulls can win. If not, they will be in a world of trouble.
Prediction: Clemson 27, South Florida 17

Sun Bowl ( Miami vs. Notre Dame )
Notre Dame and Miami used to be a dream matchup. This year both teams appear to be teams trying to make it back to the top. QB Jacory Harris will play this game. Look for Miami to play ok this game. They will play just good enough to win. Notre Dame will be out manned this game.
Prediction: Miami 24, Notre Dame 14

Liberty Bowl ( Georgia vs. Central Florida )
Georgia travels to Memphis to take on the Knights from Central Florida. Georgia should exploit the Knight secondary with WR AJ Greene and company. I hope all Georgia fans appreciated AJ Greene because this will be his last game at Georgia.
Prediction: Georgia 31, Central Florida 13

Chick Fil-A Bowl ( South Carolina vs. Florida State )
This should be a good matchup. Look for WR Alsheron Jeffrey to exploit the Seminole secondary. Also look for the ‘Noles to try and attack the Gamecock secondary. The difference in this game will be the running game. South Carolina has Marcus Lattimore and Florida State doesn’t.
Prediction: South Carolina 24, Florida State 21

TicketCity Bowl ( Texas Tech vs. Northwestern )
Expect both teams to run the spread offense and try to spread the other team out. The only difference between these two teams is that Northwestern can run the ball and Texas Tech cannot.
Prediction: Northwestern 27, Texas Tech 21

Outback Bowl ( Florida vs. Penn State )
Florida will try to send out Urban Meyer on a high note this game. Florida will run the ball more and use their speed on defense to cause fits for RB Evan Royster and the Nittany Lion offense. Expect this game to be a defensive battle.
Prediction: Florida 20, Penn State 17

Capital One Bowl ( Alabama vs. Michigan State )
This will be a highly competitive game. The difference in this game will be that Alabama’s defense will be able to match up better against Michigan State’s offense than Michigan State’s defense against Alabama’s offense. Julio Jones will have a big game.
Prediction: Alabama 31, Michigan State 21

Godaddy.com Bowl ( Miami(OH) vs. MTSU )
Miami(OH) runs a spread offense, exactly what MTSU runs, so the Blue Raiders should be very familiar with their offense. The difference between MTSU and Miami is that MTSU doens t have a consistent running game and that will hurt them this game.
Prediction: Miami(OH) 30, MTSU 17

Cotton Bowl ( LSU vs. Texas A & M )
LSU seemed to find a rhythm towards the end of the season. For them to win this game, they must continue the momentum they found behind QB Jordan Jefferson and continue to play stifling defense against the exciting offense of the Aggies.
Prediction: LSU 26, Texas A & M 17

BBVA Compass Bowl ( Pittsburgh vs. Kentucky )
Kentucky will be playing without starting QB Mike Hartline, so expect to see QB/WR Randall Cobb at QB some in the “Wild Cobb ” formation. Even with doing that, I don’t think Kentucky will be able to produce enough offense to win.
Prediction: Pittsburgh 24, Kentucky 20

Fight Hunger Bowl ( Nevada vs. Boston College )
The Wolf Pack have a very explosive offense. The best chance Boston College has to win this game is if they are successful running the ball. Even with that, they will no be able to score as much and as explosive as Nevada.
Prediction: Nevada 43, Boston College 17

These are my predictions for the non-BCS bowl games. Let’s get ready for the bowl season!

TEM’s College Football Predictions-Week 15

This weekend is the last weekend in the regular season. There aren’t many games on the schedule this week, so I picked out the Top 5 games that will be affecting the BCS. Without further adieu, here’s the last regular season edition of TEM’s College Predictions.

Auburn vs. South Carolina
SEC East meets SEC West meet as Auburn and South Carolina meet in the SEC championship. These two teams met earlier in the season in what was a thriller on the Plains. QB Cam Newton has taken the SEC by storm and he has improved since last seeing the Gamecocks. Newton should give the Gamecock defense fits, but he will also need RB Ontario McCaleb and company to win this game. QB Stephen Garcia must play with his head and make smart decisions. He must also use WR Alshon Jeffrey. Jeffrey is a mismatch for the Auburn secondary. If Auburn is able to at least disrupt Garcia’s rhythm, they can win the game and keep South Carolina at bay. This game should come down to the wire.
Prediction: Auburn 34, South Carolina 31

Oklahoma vs. Nebraska
The Sooners and the Huskers meet for the last time as members of the Big 12 conference in this big game. QB Taylor Martinez is still questionable, so the Huskers may be starting backup QB Cody Green. Martinez gives the Huskers the added dimension of a homerun threat at QB, so with him, Oklahoma would have to spy him with a LB. If Green is in there, Oklahoma would need to ratchet up the pressure to rattle Green. RB Roy Helu will need to be big in this game. For Oklahoma, QB Landry Jones has been as advertised and then some all year. He must continue to spread the ball around to his myriad of weapons. The most important weapon that the Huskers would need to pay attention to is RB DeMarco Murray. He can be a serious threat in the running and passing game. This game will be a close contest as well, but the Sooners have too many playmakers for the Huskers.
Prediction: Oklahoma 38, Nebraska 24

Oregon vs. Oregon State
The Civil War takes on added significance in the battle of the state of Oregon. Oregon will bring its fast-paced offense to the table and the Beavers will not be able to keep up. RB LaMichael James will slice and dice the Oregon State defense and WR Jeff Maehl should be able to have a field day in the Beaver secondary. For Oregon State, they would like nothing more than to destroy Oregon’s perfect season. They will have to depend on RB Jaquizz Rodgers to win this game. If Rodgers is special, then Oregon State can stay in the game. Oregon should win this game, but when rivalries are involved, anything can happen.
Prediction: Oregon 45, Oregon State 21

Florida State vs. Virginia Tech
The ACC Championship and a BCS berth are on the line when these two historic football schools meet. QB Tyrod Taylor has been excellent for the Hokies during their winning streak. He must continue to make plays with his legs and his arm to make the Seminole defense play the Hokies honest. If he isn’t effective, then the Seminoles will creep more people into the box to stop RBs Darren Evans and Ryan Williams. QB Christian Ponder has had a great season this year and he must continue to get help from the running game to be effective. If the running game is effective, then Ponder will have time to hit all his deep threat targets. This game will go back and forth. The difference will be that the Hokies have more explosive players.
Prediction: Virginia Tech 31, Florida State 27

Connecticut vs. South Florida
UConn travels to Tampa to take on a injury-riddled South Florida team. QB BJ Daniels is questionable for this game bit I expect him to play. He may be limited this game, but I still expect him to run around and make plays for the Bulls. He and WR Mario Bogans are the keys to this team. As they go, so goes the Bulls team. RB Jordan Todman is leading the country in rushing. He is the Huskies’ offense. If the Bulls are able to stop him, QB Zach Fraser should not be able to beat them with his arm. In the end, I don’t think Todman will be able to be stopped.
Prediction: Connecticut 24, South Florida 20

These are my predictions for the week. Hopefully everyone will enjoy the games!

TEM’s College Football Predictions-Rivalry Week

This weekend is a special weekend in college football. Pretty much every team is taking on their rival. And rivalries tend to produce the best football games. Without further adieu, here are the predictions for Rivalry Week 2010.

Texas A & M vs. Texas
Texas A & M comes off a great win against Nebraska and travels to take on a disappointing Texas team. The Aggies like to play a balanced style of offense with QB Ryan Tannehill and RB Cyrus Gray. Both of these guys have been key figures in the Aggies’ 5 game win streak. Gray should be really effective because the Texas defense has issues stopping the run. Texas got some confidence playing against Florida Atlantic and they will need to carry that into this game. QB Garrett Gilbert and RB Cody Johnson must play big in this game. If they don’t show up, then Texas will be going home after this game and will not be playing in a bowl game this year. I think history will be made and its not going to be good history for Texas.
Prediction: Texas A & M 38, Texas 27

Auburn vs. Alabama
The Iron Bowl takes on extra significance this year. Auburn is playing to keep their national title chances alive amidst the drama going on with QB Cam Newton. Newton must stay focused on the game and not the other issues going on. If he comes out and plays well, the Alabama defense may be in trouble. Alabama must come out and run the football against the Auburn defense. If the Auburn isn’t able to stop the running of RBs Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson, then Newton will have limited possessions to put points on the board. I look for this game to be a physical battle until the end. WR Julio Jones will be the difference as Alabama knocks off their hated rival.
Prediction: Alabama 27, Auburn 23

Michigan vs. Ohio State
Michigan travels to the Horseshoe to take on Ohio State in one of college football’s most storied rivalries. QB Denard Robinson is everything to the Wolverine offense. He must protect the football, make smart decisions and make the big plays for Michigan on offense. If he doesn’t play big, Michigan has no chance. QB Tyrelle Pryor has made the big plays when they count for the Buckeyes. This game, he should be able to make any play he wants because the Wolverine defense can’t stop anyone.
Prediction: Ohio State 31, Michigan 20

LSU vs. Arkansas
LSU travels to Arkansas to take on Ryan Mallette and the Hogs. QB Jordan Jefferson must continue to make progress this week. If he isn’t effective, the Hogs will key on RB Stevan Ridley and the Tiger running game and that wouldn’t be good for LSU. QB Ryan Mallette had some struggles last week against the Mississippi State defense. This week, he must make smart decisions and use his running game. If Mallette is able to do that, LSU will be flying back to Baton Rouge with a loss.
Prediction: Arkansas 27, LSU 24

Florida vs. Florida State
Florida travels to Tallahassee to take on an improving Seminole team. Florida has been winning using three QBs and running the football. They still haven’t figured out their identity on offense and I don’t look for them to figure it out this week against a Seminole defense that can be tough at times. The only thing that is true for the Florida offense is that RB Jeff Demps has to play well. If he doesn’t, then the Gators could get buried. Seminole QB Christian Ponder will be playing his last game at home, so I expect him to come out with some fire and take it to the Gators.
Prediction: Florida State 24, Florida 13

South Carolina vs. Clemson
These two hated rivals square off in Death Valley this year. QB Stephen Garcia got some good practice in last week’s game so he should be ready to go. Garcia should be able to hit WR Alshon Jeffrey plenty of times during this game, but the key to this team is RB Marcus Lattimore. He must run the ball well against Clemson. Clemson QB Kyle Parker and RB Jamie Harper are the Tiger’s offense. These two must produce if Clemson has any chance of winning. In the end, South Carolina just has too much talent.
Prediction: South Carolina 23, Clemson 17

Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State
This year’s version of Bedlam is in Stillwater. The Cowboys have been flying high all season on the strength of their offense. For them to win this game, RB Kendall Hunter and WR Justin Blackmon have to produce for the Cowboys to keep up with the Sooners. The Sooners have QB Levi Jones, RB DeMarco Murray and WR Ryan Broyles to carry them, as well as some other weapons on offense. Oklahoma State hasn’t been very good on defense all year and this game will show just how bad they are.
Prediction: Oklahoma 45, Oklahoma State 37

Mississippi State vs. Ole Miss
The Bulldogs travel to Oxford to take on the Ole Miss Rebels in the Egg Bowl. Mississippi State QB Chris Relf and crew must be effective running the football. If they aren’t, then Relf will be forced to pass and the Bulldogs cannot win that way. QB Jeremiah Masoli will be looking to go out on a good note this weekend. He must make good decisions and also get help from RB Brandon Bolden. If Masoli gets some help, this game will be close. Even if this game is close, the Bulldogs should win this game because of their toughness.
Prediction: Mississippi State 24, Ole Miss 21

Kentucky vs. Tennessee
Kentucky travels to Neyland Stadium to take on a UT team trying to get bowl eligible. QB Mike Hartline has played well this year and he must continue to facilitate the Wilcat’s offense and get the ball to his playmakers, WR Randall Cobb and RB Derek Locke. The UT defense must be sure tacklers on Saturday and complete the game in order to win. QB Tyler Bray took a step back last week against Vandy. He must go back to the guy who performed at a high level three games in a row for the Vols to win this game. Bray must also get help from RB Tauren Poole. With the crowd and the energy in the stadium Saturday, Tennessee wins this game.
Prediction: Tennessee 27, Kentucky 21

Georgia Tech vs. Georgia
Georgia takes on an underachieving Yellow Jacket squad between the hedges. The Yellow Jackets have been inconsistent this year but when a rivalry comes around, expect them to be fired up. I expect a big dose of RB Anthony Allen this game. He must be effective for them to win this game. For Georgia, it simple: execute on offense and defense and get the ball to AJ Greene. If the Bulldogs come out and handle their business, then they should win pretty easily.
Prediction: Georgia 33, Georgia Tech 17
